A New Favourite in Catherine Cowles' Beautifully Broken Pieces

This is my second book that I have read by Catherine Cowles and I can safely say, she is the Queen of Romantic Suspense! The first in the Sutter Lake series, Beautifully Broken Pieces sees a grieving Taylor make a spontaneous decision to remain in Sutter Lake when she visits it on a trip with friends. As her mom had passed away six months earlier, she needs a change of scenery where no one knows about her loss and avoid all the looks of sympathy.

Walker loves his hometown where generations of his family have helped found Sutter Lake. As the town’s favourite cop, he does his best to protect its residents, which include newly arrived Taylor who is renting out his parents’ cabin. He is instantly drawn to Taylor who tries her best to keep everyone at arm’s length.

Wow. This book was just wow and as I experienced it via audiobook with dual narrators, it was amazing to listen to. Both narrators were amazing and brought Cowles’ words to life in such a magnificent way.

The deep emotions that Taylor was experiencing were powerful and the strength of Walker’s persistence in helping Taylor open up was wonderful. The attraction and growing feelings between the two was so well crafted and Walker has made the book boyfriend list.

And I can’t forget the mystery that was embedded within the story of the missing women that Walker and his team try to uncover. My mouth literally dropped when it was revealed who the murderer was. It. Was. So. Good!

If you haven’t noticed by now, I very much recommend this book if you’re looking for a beautiful romantic suspense story.

Book Description

A woman who’s lost everything.

Taylor is looking for peace and quiet away from the memories of all she’s lost. A small mountain town where no one knows her seems like the perfect escape.

A man battling the ghosts of his past.

Walker loves his life just the way it is. His town, his family, his brothers in blue. Everything simple and easy—until a chance encounter changes it all.

When Taylor’s solitude is interrupted by the rugged cop, they find that the very thing they were avoiding might be just what they both need. As their iron wills clash and passion flares…a killer lurks.

And you never know who might be caught in the crosshairs.
